      Dr. John L. Cox and Miss Vivian Stamper, both of this place, were married at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Stamper, Christmas morning. Both these young people come of prominent families, the bride being the daughter of our present county attorney and the groom the son of Dr. B. D. Cox.

      Shelt Cannoy and Dr. John Cox, of Campton, passed through town Monday en route to see John Will Taulbee, and Mr. Cannoy's son had Dr. Stamper do some dental work for him.

      While walking in the power house in the oil field, Cy Cable's son had the misfortune to get struck on the hand by a piece of the machinery which severed the fingers from one of his hands. The dismembered fingers were picked up and he was taken to a Lexington hospital by Dr. John L. Cox, of Campton, for treatment.
    • Wolfe County News, June 13, 1951 DR. JOHN L. COX DIED IN CAMPTON SATURDAY JUNE 9 Dr. John L. Cox, 66, County Health Office for Wolfe and Morgan counties, died Saturday morning, June 9, 1951 at ten o'clock at his home in Campton after a brief illness. Funeral services were conducted at the Campton Methodist Church Monday afternoon at two o'clock with Rev. Joseph Lewis officiating. Hearne Funeral Home was in charge of the burial which was in Evans Cemetery. Dr. Cox is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edna Rose Cox, Campton, two sons, and two daughters, by a former marriage: Judge John Cox, Stanton, George Cox, Middletown, O.: Mrs. Carl Maloney, Corbin, KY; and Mrs. Banford White, Stanton, Ky. He also leaves one brother, Samp Cox, Quillen's Chapel, and two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Riggs, Campton and Mrs. Rose Profitt, Slade; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Dr. Cox was a member of the local Methodist church, the Eastern star, and the local Masonic Lodge and White Shrine. He had been an efficient and loyal worker in his office and will be greatly missed in this community. He had served as County Health officer for 23 years; serving in Lewis and Carter Counties prior to coming to Wolfe and Morgan Counties. Active pallbearers at the funeral were James Swope, Sr., Omer Catron, Arnold Rose, Riley Harris, Charles W. Murphy and Charles E. Lindon. Honorary pallbearers include Alex Spencer, Sam Profitt, Lenville Bush, Herman Hull and Malcom Strong.
